I believe it would be possible to manufacture a type of pavement that does not absorbe and magnify tempretures from the sun, if you have ever noticed that pavement retains the heat from the sun even at night, this changes the surounding tempretures, and is in my opioion one part of global warming problem, am i correct?

You are correct, you can also add buildings and concrete.

One guy in NYC has proposed every rooftop in the city be planted with native plants under the theory that it will clean the air and lower the temperature.

sort of, the earth itself retains heat, so no matter where you are you can see it rising off the surface if it has been a hot enough day.

HERE'S where I do agree with you though. Through the manufacturing of the pavement itself you may have some issues that contribute to global warming. Just like many other industries and manufacturing processes this one may not be very earth friendly either. I think that we need to look into this portion of the whole pavement to blame idea.

Pavement doesn't "amplify" the heat from the sun. Built up areas such as cities do introduce materials (roads, buildings, etc.) that tend to alter temperatures locally, most typically resulting in warmer temps at night as the heat absorbed during the day is radiated back out into the immediate area. In a large city, the volume of materials used in buildings far exceeds the volume used in streets and roads. Re-radiation from roads is a very small component of the heat released at nighttime. This isn't a significant source of global warming by itself. Only a small portion of the global surface is made up of cities.

Gobal warming is caused by the increase in greenhouse gasses, primarily carbon dioxide, compined with deforestation of the plants that convert it into oxygen. These gasses rise into the atmosphere and trap the heat of the sun, much like the glass in a greenhouse holds the heat from the sun.

Carbon dioxide is a byproduct of combustion in most forms. The improvements in auto emissions over the past 40 years has cut the levels of some toxic gasses (carbon monoxide, unburned hydrocarbons, and oxides of nitrogen) dramatically but has actually increased the proportion of carbon dioxide since combustion is much more complete. All carbon based fuels WILL generate CO2 when burned -- wood, alcohols, coal, oil, natural gas, and gasoline are all carbon based and contribute to the problem.

There are only two ways to fight greenhouse gasses. Carbon based fuels will ALWAYS generate CO2 when they are burned so reduction of the use of carbon based fuels will help. Ethanol and Methanol will NOT help as they are carbon based. Only hydrogen will help as it contains no carbon atoms. Shifting to other energy sources will also help. These include nuclear (yeah, dirty word, but true!) wind, hydro-electric, magnetohydrodynamics (ocean waves) and fuel cells. The other way to fight the problem is by reforestation of denuded areas. Trees and other plants take up CO2 and give off oxygen, thereby reducing the available CO2 to rise into the atmosphere.

It's an interesting theory.

Global warming is caused by heat, which would otherwise dissipate, being trapped in the atmosphere by carbon dioxide and other gases.

However, I think the amount of heat being generated by pavement is probably negligible on the grand scheme of things.

You ever been to the Rocky Mountains in the Summer? or the desert? You ought to feel the heat coming off the ground there. You could be right, maybe the pavement is affecting it in a small way. But I think we should get people in other countries(and our own) to stop murdering and raping their own people before we start worrying about pavement.

The blame extensively rests on humanity and its overpopulation of the planet. it really is "we" who're the demolition crew for the planet. certain blame lies with agencies who ought to make their shrareholders wealthier and wealthier no longer matter the techniques used. Presidents are in charge because they take the coward's way out and skirt around the challenge altogether.

Dead on!

I've always thought the SAME thing!
Why aren't the experts addressing that?
You would think they would notice!

It's pretty darn OBVIOUS! Geesh.
