our taurus heater core has gone bad and the repair job is EXTREMELY expensive. want to know if anyone has fixed their heater core and what you did to get into the dash and down to the core.

No easy way about it. I had to do the same as the mechanic would have, only I did not have to dish out the labor cost. It was such a pain, when a heater core went out on another car, I gladly paid.

Good Luck With that. From what I know, the Taurus's major problems involved the heater core, and the heater core is located somewhere deep in the dash in an obscure place. I would rather get another car than deal with that headache. The Ford Five-Hundred is an awsome car, and so far hasn't repeated the blunders of the Taurus.

Find the hoses to it and pinch them off/disconnect them. You won't have a heater any more, but you'll save $$ enough to buy a new coat.

Good luck with this one. It isn't one for the 'weekend mechanic'
The dashboard has to be removed and if the vehicle has air conditioning the system has to be evacuated and recharged agter job is done.
Again - do not attempt if not qualified!

replace it or check the radiator no antafrezz will diliver you no heat in the heater
