I was sad to hear of his passing. He played the organ riff on the Beatles' "Get Back" and backed them on several other songs (was called, for a time, "The 5th Beatle"), He also backed numerous other groups in the '60's & '70's, and had a pretty fair career as a solo artist ("Will it Go 'Round in Circles?", etc.). Joins John & George & too many others in Rock 'n Roll Heaven.

I know [have heard of ] this singer. I first learnt of the death through this web site last week. I was surprise, I did not know that Billy Preston had died. My smypathy is expressed.

Of course I cried for such a loss, man!
For those who don't know him, he was one of the most famous Hammond players in the 60's and he supported the Stones as opening act for many concerts of their world tours in the 70's!
