It wasn't the people of America, but it was the bad politicians of the United States that caused the attack of September 11, 2001. The tragedy of 9/11 could have been prevented, but no one put enough effort to prevent it. When the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan in 1979, the USA supported the freedom fighters or the Mujahideen so that they could get rid of the Soviets. After a lot of fighting and bloodshed, the Soviets were forced out of Afghanistan in 1989. This was the time to prevent 9/11. Instead of supporting the people of Afghanistan, and helping them set up a fair government, we left them and forgot them. The mujahideen fought b/w each other and were then replaced by the Taliban in 1996. The US still didn't do anything to help change the situation in Afg. The Taliban started killing, raping and robbing the Afghan people. They were supported by the Pakistani terrorists and Arab terrorists. The US knew all of this but did not do anything. Until 9/11, no one was paying any attention to the bad situation of Afghanistan. And even now, our administration has not made a strong effort to catch the terrorists. Osama is still out there and the Taliban are still causing fear and death in some parts of Afghanistan. The facts may be sad. But they are still FACTS. And there is no way to ignore the TRUTH.

I don't think the USA was the exact cause of 9/11, but the actions of our government definitely played a part in the tragedy. It's been my opinon for a long time (since I was about 10 and I'm 28 now) that America needs to mind their own business and tend to matters at home before we go sticking our noses into other countries to try and "fix" them by promoting democracy. I'm sorry, but if the citizens of a country are being oppressed, they should ban together and overthrow their own government or move somewhere else. If you can't take the heat - get out of Iraq. Call me naive, but if you want freedom from oppression you have to fight for it and if you have someone else fight your battles for you the victory is not yours.
That is not to say that the people in Iraq were not being terrorized themselves. It was horrible what was going on over there, but when did this "War on Terror" go from the hunt for Osama Bin Laden to the Free the Iraqis movement? I think the whole point of the "War on Terror" has been lost to the ego of one man and his name doesn't need to be mentioned - you all know who I'm talking about.
However, there are better ways for people who disagree with the United States government's foreign affairs policies to make their frustrations known. Just because they don't like the things our government does - it doesn't mean they need to go and blow things up and cause wars.
The problem is that human beings are not civilized. We're barbaric, childish, irrational, arrogant creatures who think everyone has to think and act one way. We can't accept people's differences and the people in charge cannot rule peacefully. It seems to me that all any government wants is more power and more money and that, my friends, will be the downfall of our uncivilized civilization.
Then again, maybe I'm just really ignorant. I stopped all news-related activities after 9/11 because it made me too depressed and scared. I watch the Daily Show and the Colbert Report for news because if I'm going to hear scary and depressing stuff - I want to be able to laugh at it too. I don't trust the mainstream media and my trust in my government is on the border of none and very little. I feel somewhat safe here for the time being, but I fear for the future.
We are on a very dangerous road and it only leads to destruction.

I think that the US let its guard down. I mean from the media, news and movies that came out in regards to 9/11, one can see that the President or people within the government knew that these attacks may happen. I think if they knew that these attacks were going to happen they should have tried to prevent them. Also, while they were happening, and our country was under attack, the President should have done something to prevent it from happening and actually started doing his job as Commander and Chief.
Despite all that, I think that the US did bring it upon themselves, by letting its guard down while trying to be the World Police. I think that the US thought that they were very developed and so advanced that they did not have to fear other countries or powers...and once you let your guard its hard to get the act together and so things such as 9/11 happens.

I will admit I am not as informed as I should be, but
I don't see how we could really be responsible, from what I know our country was targeted for the attack, simply because of how we choose & have the right to live our lives.
So no I don't feel we are responsible for it. It's not like we are gonna change our way of life no matter how many times they choose to target our country or it's people.
