Her husband isn't sure he knows what he wants but she is more sure of what she wants. They have 3 kids also. I've never experienced anything like this in my personal life. How can I help when I can't relate to the situation. I just know how she feels and what I would do but we tend to differ somewhat in relationships.

I would say just be there to give her a shoulder to lean on and someone to talk to when she needs someone thats basically all she might need right now try to convince her to go places and you should like go to the mall if its just to look around in the stores take her out so she wont be stuck up in the house al the time just give her all your support you can give

You don't have to know the answers or say anything. Just help with the kids, give her a place to sleep, listen to her cry, but don't offer advice. As you said, you don't know much about this. It is your brother in law, the father of your nieces/nephews. She needs your affection, love, encouragement. She may do much better down the road but she is, right now, the walking wounded.

Your love will mean so very much to her. I've been through this and cannot imagine how I would have made it without the unconditional support of my brothers, sisters and mother. They never stopped believing in me. That was sooooo wonderful.

SOMETIMES THE BEST ADVISE IS NO ADVISE, JUST BE A GOOD LISTENER AND COMFORTER AND FRIEND. TRY TO TAKE HER MIND OFF THE SITUATION BY GOING TO A MOVIE,PICNIC,OR SWIMMING . DONT HATE ON HER MAN NO MATTER WHAT. VEN IF HE IS WRONG SHE DONT WANT OR NEED TO KNOW THE EXTRA INPUT . THE BEST THING TO DO IS TELL HER I WISH I HAD BETTER OR MORE ADVISE BUT I DONT SO I WILL LISTEN TO YOU CAUSE' I LOVE YOU AND I AM HERE FOR YOU. ALSO TELL HER TO PRAY ABOUT IT. PRAYER HELPS EVEN IF YOU R NOT RELIGIOUS,IT IS AS IF SOMEONE ELSE CAN HELP CARRY THE BURDEN OR LIGHTEN THE LOAD.YOU SOUND LIKE A GREAT FRIEND AND GOOD PERSON. BEST OF LUCK TO YOU.AND ONE MORE THING ... SEND HER FUNNY E-CARDS FROM YAHOO DAILY

Listen to her, if you can't relate to this personally then just be her support. No matter what, don't down her husband, she will hold it against you later if they get back together. Let her cry if she needs to. I've been in that situation, not a good one to be in. Good luck to you!

my sister was my rock during my separation and divorce. Mostly what I liked is that she listened. She often said that she didn't know what to say or do. I would tell her that just by listening to me and NOT judging me was what I needed.
One thing......if the legal things get nasty, she will need someone to help her. I feel my family failed me there and I lost everything.
Just don't let her troubles hurt your own relationship with your own husband. There may be some boundries you need to set.

You should just listen to her....be there to support her, that's the best you can do for your sister...no one understands a separation/divorce until you actually go through it personally...She is going to cry a lot, get depressed and prob lose some weight....Pray for her during this time-and if she ask your advice about anything to do with him, tell her to follow her heart...

To be honest you really can't do anything other than give her emotional support. She is your sister so just be there, if it were you I'm sure she'd do the same.
