Have you talked to her about it? Maybe you could give her some more information about it. Or you could take her to the grocery store and buy some for yourself while she's there to open up the topic more easily.

This is the perfect opportunity to open the doors of communication. I didn't feel that I could talk to my mom when I got my period, that also meant that I wasn't comfortable talking to her about other things too. It's so important that they feel comfortable talking to us. It's so good that you're concerned and want to talk to her. Maybe just say, if you ever want to talk you know I'm here, or something like that to open the conversation. Or maybe talk about when you got yours, and how old you were.... then let her know that she's free to tell you when she gets it, maybe she'd tell you that she already has. Or even just say,"when you get your period, if there's anything you need just let me know" You could probably offer a lot of advise too, and get her the products that she's comfortable with.

Just come right out and ask, she's probably to shy to come to you or she would have already.
Cheeks will turn red, eyes will look away, something may be mumbled but neither of you will die of embarrassment.
She needs the information you can give her, just ask her.

While I haven't been on either side of this issue, just be a parent and ask her if there is anything new. Its a parent's responsibility to be involved in their kid's lives.

just say, "honey, let me know when you need to go to the store for some pads or tampons." she'll be embarrased for a while but at least she'll know you know and then its no big secret.
