I don't find abbreviations (so long as they are not way too overused in the paragraph) as annoying as I find misspellings. I can understand an occasional typo, but some people either can not spell, or just do not care how hard it is to read. For the love of Pete, there is a spell check button in Yahoo answers, learn how to use it!

Sorry...I couldn't resist. I think we use them so much because we think we don't have time to type the whole word. Personally it takes me longer to think of the abbreviated version of a word than it does to just type the whole thing.

talking about on here when people cut the words? i think they just idiots that cant spell. but whats really sad is in school we were writing an essay, and someone used the words they use on here and msn...thats the saddest part. they dont know how to use proper english...
