Garter belts and seamed stockings. They are a great vintage item you can buy online at www.stockingstore.com. To be totally realistic, you should get the stiletto or Cuban heel kind. That's what they wore in the 30's. I wore a 40's vintage dress with seamed stockings to my prom and I got so much attention it was insane.

Because make-up increases the appearance of health and fertility to in women, thus making them appear more vunerable and better mates. Men, on the other hand, should appear strong and rugged, to show they will pass on good genes to their children. So, women were make-up, and men don't. Also, could possibily be because in current society, make-up on men is associated with homosexuality.
