What happens if you live your entire life without ever finding out what your purpose is?

I don't think there is anything truly philosophical or deep about lifes purpose. We all bump along and figure out the way to go and eventually we get it right. It's all about taking chances and what feels right to you. To each his or her own and best of luck bumping along with the rest of us.

I'm sure that if you live your whole life without knowing what your purpose is that in one of your next lives you are bound to find it! in the mean time you can do some deep soul searching and find what truly brings you joy and find a way to share that joy with the world!

so you think that there is a purpose for living a life...and you want to find out what it is...if you find out what it is...what will happen...everyones being has the purpose of 'love' and nothing but 'love'. Love everything..love everyone...show your love in whatever means you can...then you will come to know the purpose

We all have a purpose. The problem is that most of us think it has to be this grand plan that will allow all the world to know us.

As a mother.....my purpose is to raise my children to be secure in themselves and to follow what their spirit tells them is their correct path in life. I need to be that soft safe place for them to talk about ideas, come to when they are hurt and encourage them, but above all else to know that they are loved and accepted by at least one person in this world and that love is unconditional.

As a friend and a person my purpose is to help where I can even if it is just to notice someone and smile at them. I believe GOD brings people into our paths for a reason. All are to teach us. All are an opportunity for personal growth. Some are there for us to give alot of attention and support to. Some are there for a lifetime. Some are there just for a second.

Think back in your life to your most desperate times and remember that ONE person who changed your course. All it takes is one person to stop a suicide, love someone or show they care. One person can change so many lives for the better.

That is the purpose of life! Open your heart and your mind....look and recognize your passions....those are the gifts you are to give to the world. It may be that you give it to one person and they pass it on. It may be that you give it to your family and they give it to your grandchildren and so on. It may be that you give it to a school or homeless shelter and affect thousands.

If you look into your heart and see your passions then you will not miss your purpose in life.

sure, your first 2 sentences are excellent. Why are we so boastful as to think of there might desire to be a purpose to our lives whilst different animals do no longer? that's the bit interior the middle it quite is significant. i'm nearing the tip of my life and am extremely joyful with my life. I easily have tried to enthuse 100s of scholars with a love of literature - had 3 chldren, 2 docs, one accountant and grandchildren. the point to my life is those achievements. I easily have made a small mark - handed on my values to the subsequent technology and the single after - to admire others and manage them as we cherished to be taken care of. we are a wam and loving kinfolk. i'm a fortunate woman. when I die, i'm hoping to stay in my kinfolk's hearts yet it quite is it. i do no longer anticipate from now on. I easily have a good life and am nonetheless enjoying my retirement, writng posts on her and writing thoughts and fidgeting with my grandchildren. What might desire to be extra helpful? kinfolk is my purpose. Mo An atheist

Life truly DOES have a purpose, and once you find it, you will be delighted. Don't listen to the nay-sayers. Just stay on your path to finding the truth. Don't listen to the religous right, (or should I say Reicht?) Just follow the Spirit, and you will receive your enlightenment.

I don't really know if we have a purpose. Maybe we just have goals for ourselves we need to accomplish by the time we die (whenever that may be). And then we accomplish new goals when we reincarnate(if we really do).

I don't know about you, but I'd rather have small goals than one big purpose I need to figure out.

HELLO,
I THINK THAT IS A GREAT QUESTION,,I AM STILL TRYING TO UNDERSTAND
MY PURPOSE, THAT I NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT UNTIL I WAS MIDDLE AGED,, I PERSONALLY AM A WOMAN WHO WAS A LOST LITTLE KID, AND THOUGHT GOOD LOOKS, AND GOOD INTENTIONS WOULD GET ME THERE,,,, BUT THE PROBLEM WAS, I DID NOT KNOW WHERE "THERE WAS" SO I STUMBLED ALONG A FEW MARRIAGES, TRAVELED, I COULD BUY WHATEVER I WANTED, ETC, BLEW ALOT OF MONEY ON ??HAD A CHILD, A SON, I ADORE, DIVORCED ETC, BUT MY PURPOSE, I AM STILL TRYING TO FIGURE THINGS OUT,

I WILL TELL YOU THAT IF I WOULD HAVE JUST PRAYED, AND ASK GOD TO
SHOW ME, OR GIVE ME WISDOM TO UNDERSTAND THE PLAN FOR ME, WHY I WAS "INVENTED" INSTEAD OF ALWAYS ASKING GOD TO GIVE ME WHAT I WANTED, I MIGHT HAVE UNDERSTOOD THINGS SOONER,,

I THINK WE ARE ALL HERE FOR A PURPOSE, SOME NEED TO LEARN, SOME NEED TO SACRAFICE, SOME NEED TO TEACH, TO GIVE, ETC, I DONT KNOW ABOUT THE ONES WHO SUFFER ILLNESSS, PAIN, STARVATION,,I AM STILL STUCK ON THOSE WHY'S I DID NOT PROBABLY
HELP YOU, BY TALKING ABOUT MYSELF, I JUST KNOW IT M AKES NO SENSE TO ME TO BE BORN, WITH SUCH DETAIL, AND UNIQUENESS, JUST TO DIE AND BE RECYCLED,,,??????????????////

I KNOW THAT WHEN I LEARNED THAT BEING SELF CENTERED, AND ONLY THINKING OF MY NEEDS, ME ME ME AND WANTING THE WORLD AROUND ME TO "UNDERSTAND ME, ETC" I WAS BLINDED TO SO MUCH MORE,,, I HAVE LEARNED TO LEARN ABOUT THINGS, THAT I HAD NO INTEREST IN, AND THEN I WAS AMAZED WHAT WAS HAPPENING, I GUESS THE ANSWERS WONT COME AND KNOCK ON YOUR DOOR,

(WELL THEY COULD) BE OPEN.. I SUGGEST YOU SEARCH DEEP IN TO YOUR OWN SOUL, PRAY, SEEK GUIDENCE, MEDITATION, OR JUST EVALUATE YOUR TALENTS, AND GIFTS, AND WHAT COULD YOU DO WITH THOSE, OR WHO COULD YOU HELP.. OTHER THAN YOURSELF, DO VOLUNTEER WORK, OF SOMETHING OF INTEREST,,

IM GLAD YOU ASK THAT QUESTION, YOU REMINDED ME TO NOT WASTE TOO MUCH TIME, AND LISTEN FOR ANSWERS, THAT MAY BE REAL OBVIOUS.

GOOD LUCK

One of my favorite quotes is "...The purpose of life is to matter, to count, to stand for something, to have it make some difference that we lived at all." (Leo Roston)

I also think it's more then that. You have to learn from your experiences. If you haven't learned, then you are doomed to repeat the lessons of this life. That's what happens- you repeat, repeat, repeat- until you do know what you came here for.
