We drive a minivan, because we have 3 kids. It gets about 25 mpg. We spend about $38/week on gas. My husband drives 30 miles round trip to work 5 days per week and we also do lots of errands and other running around.
If you are single and just looking for something more economical, my sil had a Kia Rio. It was a fairly cheap car and she said it got great gas mileage, she drove 70 miles round trip to work every day. It was a lighter car, which I'm sure is why.

The most economic cars are generally the foreign cars (Hyundai, Honda, etc.). I had to give up my Hyundai Accent for a Dodge Grand Caravan because I now have a wheechair. My Hyundai averaged 30 mpg. My van? Good grief, I'm doing good to break 19.5 mpg. If I don't do a lot of running around, a tank will run me about $50/week! No, I don't make useless trips much. =)

Hello, My name is Robert. I drive a Ford contour 4 cylinder....i spend bout 30 dollars a week so bout 120 a month to fill up on gas...maybe a lil more if i want to do some extra running around...I go to work three towns away every morning....its an hour drive there and an hour back...so i would have to say if you are going to get a vehicle and want to save on gas...get a 4 cylinder...they might not have as fast a take off...but they are really good on gas....

Go with a small car, it's so much more economical. I have an SUV and it's costing me my whole pay check to pay for the Gas..... It's crazy, sometimes I don't want to go out just so I can save on the gas.

well both of my vehicles are piad off, but gasoline for my commuter car = 60 miles a day, 30 miles a gallon , 2.80$ a gallon X approx 29 days I work a month = 162$ a month in gas plus add in insurance and oil changes and misc. costs, prolly 200$ a month ave, my truck is little cheaper I hardly ever drive that...BTW my car is a 2000 ford focus, 90K no problems yet, knock on wood.

WELL I DRIVE 4 DIFFERENT CARS
THE AVERAGE COST TO FILL EACH TANK IS 45 $$ AND I DONT HAVE TO FILL EACH TANK EVERY WEEK SO ON AVERAGE IT COSTS ME 180 GAS 800 INSURANCE AND 845$ ON 2 THAT I AM STILL PAYING OFF
SO TOTAL FOR THE MONTH WOULD BE OVER 1800.00 FOR ALL 4 CARS PER MONTH
