This is actually very easy to answer, based on evolution the egg had to come first. Evolution works like this: There are slight changes in the genetic information of the sex cells (i.e. eggs and sperm) of individuals that are passed on to the offspring of any two parents. These changes in the genetic makeup are called mutations. Mutations can either have: 1) A deleterious effect on the offspring (genetic disorders may arise, many times these are lethal); 2) sometimes these mutations may be advantageous, making an individual more fit than its neighbors (this is sometimes referred to as conferring an advantage); or 3) these mutations can have no effect, making no change from parent to progeny.

In the case of the chicken, it must have evolved from something else that became less fit than the chicken and eventually becoming extinct. The chicken became a chicken from this other organism through mutations that built up over time in subsequent generations. However, whatever the genetic makeup that finally became defined as a chicken, that individual was first conceived and developed in an egg before being hatched. The egg and sperm that fused to produce the chicken didn't bypass the period of gestation within an egg that had developed in the bird family millions of years before the chicken came along.

So the simple answer to this question is the egg came first -- unless you believe in fairy tales?

This question had been debated about for centuries! Why do you expect someone to give you a straightforward answer right now! It's not like everyone is going to agree on this!

But, if you believe in the bible here....
According to the bible, the chicken came first: "And the evening and the morning were the fourth day. And God said, 'Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.'" Genesis 1:10-20

Also.... this website has the full debate so you choose what you believe
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/chicken_and...

Also....according to the dictionary the egg comes before the hen (alphabetical order)
....according to safeway the chicken ( you see it before you see the eggs in the store)
....according to McDonalds the egg (I's before the chicken on the menu)

It all depends on the way you look at things
Good Luck!

Actually the Rooster came first. Without the rooster to fertilize the egg it really does not matter which came first. But I do agree with the whole chicken came first cause God created animals first and the chicken would be created first to lay the egg instead of a egg with no mother to sit on it and no one to care for it once it was hatched.

I'm a creationist, but i still say the egg. Chickens are descendants of the Red Water Fowl, which hatched eggs long before the Chicken came along.(yes I also believe in microevolution)

God created the Chicken. You have to have a male chicken (rooster) to fertilize the egg or all you can have out of the egg is an Omelet. So male and female would be made first so that the egg that was laid would be fertilized.

I think the chicken. Which came first the egg & sperm or the human. The human. God created man. God created the chicken so why not have the live animal to reproduce.

The chicken. How can an egg hatch without a chicken to keep it warm.

The egg. Why?
Well, *ahem* many years ago, before chickens even thought of existing, if they thought at all, there were dinosaurs and such... and do you know what they had? EGGS! Big pre-historic eggs!
Then, as time passed by, things started changing, and there came chickens.
