In the movie "Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story" there is a flashback to Stewie and a man at a baseball game. The ball is hit and Stewie goes "Ooh! Steve! It's coming right at us! Grab it!" and Steve says "I don't wanna get in the way." and Stewie says "It's a foul ball, what harm can it do?" and Steve catches it just as the guy on the team leaps through the air to catch it in his glove. I am from Australia and have no idea how baseball works, and I was wondering what they are making fun of in that film? Is that something that really happened one time that ruined a game or something? Thanks guys.

Steve is Steve Bartman, who reached out and grabbed a ball that was headed for a player's glove. That player Moises Alou, plays for the Cubs (quite possibly the worst luck in all of sports now that the Red Sox have broken the Bambino's curse) and the Cubs were 5 outs away from reaching the World Series in 2003. Bartman's catch, in a famous "non-call" was not ruled fan interference and it seemed to break the Cubbie concentration. The Marlins (the Cubs opponent that day) scored 8 unanswered runs. The Cubs lose and don't go to the Series for the first time since 1945, don't get a chance to win their first fall classic since 1908 and Bartman lives in infamy forever in Chicago, even though he's a lifelong Cubs fan. He was lead out of the ballpark under police escort and is recognized in sports bars allover Chicagoland.

I hope this helps. If you want to know more, look up the Cubs, Steve Bartman and the curse of the Bambino in wikipedia

The Inning:Stewie is shown sitting next to Steve Bartman at Wrigley Field during the 2003 National League Championship Series, urging Bartman to go after a foul ball. Bartman was the Chicago Cubs fan who became a scapegoat for interfering with a catchable foul ball during Game 6 of that NLCS, where the visiting Florida Marlins rallied from a 3-0 deficit in the eighth inning to win the game, and ultimately the series.

That was Steve Bartman, he is blamed for the Cubs not winning the play-off series vs the Florida Marlins. The Cubs lost the series, and have won the World Series since 1908. This was not really Steve's fault, the Cubs have been cursed since 1945. It is called the curse of the nannigoat.
