old joke...
Adam and Eve out strolling out and about Eden one day, kinda bored with being the king and queen of the planet...God decided that they needed a reminder of how much He loved His creation. So He gave them a dog ; warm , loving, adoring and all ways a best friend, A perfect reflection (God in the mirror is dog)..well,as humans go, Adam and Eve got spoiled and began to act like brats,
So God in His infinite wisdom, decided that they needed their come-uppance..So He sent a cat.Totally self-absorbed ,not caring what the humans felt or did, as long as they worshiped and fed it.
I think cats are good.........Bar-B-Qued !.

My personality says cats.
My reality says dogs.
Thus I have both!
Also horses, chickens, snakes (which get along with the chickens a lot better than the chickens get along with them), a couple of feinting goats (they're always a blast), rabbits, cows, one three legged bobcat (another fan of the chickens), and a preying-mantis.

Actually in all my years, I don't remember a time when I didn't have a cat and a dog.
My parents were always rescuing some fuzzy. My sister walks out to the mailbox and comes back with the horde from Noah's ark (fact was, my father used her as an excuse NOT to move to Austria).
And all of my critters, even the bug, are rescues.

I like both. However, I could never find a good place for the cat box. I hate to see them in anyones bathrooms. My cat taught himself to pee in the toilet and I'd let him out and he'd come back when called. He was the first cat we had so we were pretty amused. The dog and cat got along very well. But for the sake of cleanliness, I have to go with dogs. She's a mess if she digs or if she's out after a rain, but thats a different kind of unclean.

Cats

They are both great pets to have, I have had both at one time or another, A lot depends on the cat's personality, some a really good other are very aloof and independant. Dogs are always happy and faithful and offer unconditional love.If you get a dog go for a "Whippet" or a "Jack Russell Terrier," both are great!!!

I prefer cats. They just sort of stay out of your way, as long as you acknowledge their existence. No, really. They are a lot easier to care for, much easier than dogs. But I like dogs, too.

Probably dogs since I've been around them more then cats. I do like them both but since I've been around dogs more then I guess I'd go with a dog.

Cats because I don't have to walk them.

Dogs because they always come when I call, of course, now that I think about it, cats will too if they are trained correctly.

So yeah, I still prefer cats.

Cats when I'm inside. Dogs when I'm outside.

Right now, I'm busy raising a little girl, and I love my cat, because he takes care of himself. I love dogs and someday I'd love to own a dog. But, right now, I just don't have the extra time to take care of one.
