I am not saying ALL women, but many women I see.

Everytime I go out, I see women with their bra straps hanging out under their tank tops and their thongs showing from under their low-rise pants.

I see chipped nail polish on clerks in the stores.

I see many overweight women who have no problem wearing skin-tight tank tops and shorts and letting their rolls of fat hang out all over.

Not to mention, all the women with manly tattoos and piercings all over their bodies.

Women used to be "ladies". Honestly, is it just me, or have you noticed that women are going downhill fast?

I have noticed this, too. So many women look like trash. Mostly because of their clothing choices. Modesty is nowhere to be found anymore. Depsite popular belief...dressing conservatively and dressing attractively don't have to be mutally exclusive of one another.
I don't get all the piercings and tatoos, either. There is nothing wrong with wanting to be different, but you gotta draw the line somewhere. It's as if so many women think that looking feminine is a bad thing. It doesn't mean you have to wear a dress all the time, but you are a woman for crying out loud, at least try to have some resemblance of one!

I'd say this is almost offensive. I'm all for hygeine, but let's face it- so what if you can see a bra strap? Would you rather women not wear bras? I know that's not the only solution to the bra strap dilemma, but my point is, who cares? We all know we wear bras. And about the nail polish- come on. I know I don't have time to redo my nails every time they chip, and I just figure that if it doesn't bother me, others will not be nitpicky enough to notice, much less be angered by, my non perfect manicure habits.

Who says a woman's got to be dolled up 24/7? If a man neglects to shave, it's ruggedly handsome. If a girl doesn't fix a chip in her nail polish, you say the whole gender is "going downhill fast"? C'mon, that's ridiculous.

Your definition of a woman's appearance seems to be on par with that of a 1950's husband. I agree with the overweight woman wearing the overly-tight clothing, but the rest is trivial. Chipped nail polish? Have you ever actually worn nail polish? It chips ten minutes after it dries. And the thongs hanging it is a really trash way of looking sexy for some women. If you have such a problem with it, don't look...it's that simple.

I agree with the overweight women thing...I hate seeing that. It's one of my pet peeves.

I think the first one is acceptable. It's okay if your bra strap is showing if you're wearing a tank top, the bras with clear straps are pointless because you can still see them and it's not really comfortable to wear a strapless bra all the time. The women with the low rise pants can't really help that...unless you can see it when they're still standing up which is quite slutty.

Or maybe the standard of femininity is changing. But to take your points one by one:

Those thongs are showing on purpose. It's called a whale tail.

If she's working as a clerk, odds are she doesn't have the time to spend on perfecting her nails nor the money to get them professionally done.

On the overweight women I'm kind of in agreement with you. If overweight women want to wear skin tight clothes, that's their right; but it still looks bad.

Actually piercings started with men imitating women who pierced their ears, so technically piercing is womanly and the men are following them.

Yes, women used to be "ladies". They also used to have no right to vote, and were expected to be married and unemployed, financially powerless and completely dependent on landing a husband, which necessitated all the extra preening whose death you're mourning. I have the feeling many women are perfectly happy with the trade-off.

Women aren't going downhill, the world is just turning and doing its thing. Back in the day etiquette was top priority, women had to be a certain way, act a certain way, they never had the privileges that women do today. With that, women are now allowed to express themselves without getting judged b/c their "etiquette" isn't good enough ....besides it's kind of close minded to judge a person by their appearance...alot of those women you see are "ladies" they just choose to live their life a certain way, and we should all respect people's choices whether we like it or not.

I think that the standards of feminine dress have changed and you are seeing those standards applied to all kinds of women.

It is true that fashions have changed. Women don't go around in dresses and pearl necklaces, in stockings and heels to conduct their everyday lives. Many of them work outside the home and don't have time to keep up manicures the way their mothers did. Women's more tightly fitted and skin baring styles communicate sexuality in a more blatant way than clothing did in the fifties and before. Tattoos and piercings are supposed to communicate a more dynamic sexuality than the perfectly cool put-together woman of the last century's clothing and styled hair did.

Are we better off or worse off now? That I don't really know, except I'm glad to be out of those heels!

Its partially the over-exposure of everyone from dressing like all the little blonde ho's. It may also be that as the people you look at in your age group are going to pot cause there getting older. I use to fuss with nails and all that.. but I cover my bra straps and dont where pants that dip half done my butt when I bend over. I am one of those tattoo girls ..are dragons manly- I always thought of mine as a girl

I have personally noticed a general lack of respect for one's self and one's appearence. I know that staying in shape and eating right is hard work, but if you have a 56 inch waste, you don't want to be wearing TUBE TOPS or exposing your buldging tummy-roles.

I think that MEN have always been this way... I guess women are finally catching up and trying to be MORE EQUAL.

Ewwwwwwwwwwww

I agree. One can dress casually and still keep their dignity. I'm sick of seeing thongs and boxers, and those idiots who go out dressed in pajamas and houseslippers...how lazy can you be? I actually saw a man out shopping in his wife's pink fuzzy houseslippers! Come on, people! Make an effort or stay home.
