A good friend was over there as an exchange student last year and this is the story he told me: Hardly anybody knows how to drive yet cars are a hot commodity now. A beggar was crossing the street and got hit. The guy that hit him stopped and dragged the body off to the side of the road. A family member of the victim was praying over the body. They got hit. Both laid on the side of the road as dogs and other vermin ate the bodies. What do you think?

As precious as any other races does.
I don't really get it, when you specify "Chinese". It doesn't matter what race or religion you are in.. (Unless you are in some weird cult.) All human should be treating life preciously.

Okies, if you are talking about how Chinese (individual religion) will look at the topic "human life" maybe I will be able to go indepth into this question.

In Buddhism, the purpose of life is to end suffering. The Buddha taught that humans suffer because we continually strive after things that do not give lasting happiness.

There are things in life that give joy and our attachment to them only causes more suffering. They emphasis on recognizing the impermanence of all things and freeing oneself from attachment to these things. This will lessen suffering and eventually end the cycle of rebirth.

Buddhism basically believe in reincarnation, and doing good deeds in the present life will ensure that next reincarnation will be better, which completed the circle of life.

Taoist lives in accordance with the Tao. Knowing that all opposites are relative and interdependent, and that the best way to live is in harmony with the natural course of things (the Tao). A Taoist does not struggle, oppose, or strive.

In Taoism, life and death are merely two aspects of reality, the unchanging Tao. Taoism teaches that humans ought to accept life and death as complementary aspects of the Tao. Death should be neither feared nor desired.

While living, Taoism understand and observe life. Death merely means going back to the nature and thus ending the cycle of life.

Being people, first and formost, they have the same regard for human life as we all do.
Don't confuse what the Chinese Government, does, towards humanity as to what their people think.
See what our Government does on a daily basis, and how most Americans feel about it. Last time I looked, we were against Torture etc, but now it seems our Government condones it. If not actually promoting it.

What a racist question. why don't you ask george bush the president how he regards human life - if he regards human life highly, he won't send our soldier into a war that we can't possibly win. a war that makes everyone in the world hates us. A war that kills the goods and the bads. Are our children more disposable that george bush? You ask any mother and she will tell you that her child is the most precious in her life. Does george bush ever think of human life this way? I guess not. Otherwise, he won't send our children to war.

I'm sure it depends on the area, largely. It would be difficult to say generally speaking, but I'm sure in the rural areas, they hold life at high value, from what I've learned speaking to people at work. People in the city are just like us, but there are some areas with extreme poverty, and you might say that those who allow such poverty to exist don't hold high value on human life, at least not for those in need anyway. But we are just the same here in America. I woudl like to live in one of the rural areas in China one day, learning to live off the land, and learn some of the culture and spiritualism of the people there.
