How can I fix this? Is it time to get another printer. It had been working fine. I got the latest drivers from Epson to try to make it work right again, but it didn't help. I have the settings set for text and pictures. I've cleaned the nozzle heads many times and it doesn't help. Thanks for your help.

If when you have done the print head cleanings there is no color on the diagnostic page, then yet is may be time to either have you printer serviced or replaced.

If I long time lapsed in between printer uses then you most likely have a clogged print head. You can purchase cleaner cartridges. I have seen them on line but not in stores as of yet. I have never used them so i couldn't tell you how effective they are at removing a blockage.

The other option is clean the print heads repeatedly. Check the diagnostic pages for any improvement. This is a last stitch effort.

One more thing if you are not using original Epson cartridges, that may be your problem.. There are compatables on the market with low purity inks, or made with universals inks that are too dense for the printer.

I believe in the advanced print options, there is a box marked "use black ink only".
Make sure this is unchecked.
There should be an icon for the c84 in the task bar in with the group of icons near the clock in the lower right of the screen.

Epson ink carts have a chip on them. If you remove the ink cart after you install it, the printer will assume it is empty even if it is full. just another way for epson to steal your $$$. Buy a Canon.

Ummm, you might have tried this, but when you go to Printer and Fax settings on your computer, check properties and see if it is scheduled to print in color. Maybe its accidentaly in black and white or grayscale???
