how ridiculous was the referee i mean 4 red cards that is unbelievable, i believe that it was the most cards given out in the 06 world cup!! i want to know what people think about the russian refs performance

Ive been disappointed with every ref's performance in this years world cup. I understand that they are trying to make a stand for stupid dangerous tackles but they call fouls much too often. The referee in that game made many mistakes with throwing cards around like confetti. The other thing that seems to be really popular in this world cup is the diving. Ive seen so many players go down before they are touched and the ref's need to be more aware of this. I also noticed that some ref's in games are biased towards one country and this in unacceptable.

I saw the game. That was the worst ref I have ever seen!! He gave 4 out red and 16 yellow cards. He gave 3 red cards to the Portugal team and 1 to the Netherlands. Even high school soccer has better refs. I can't believe he is allowed to ref in the word cup. He totally lost his temper over a few player.
Not only that but he made horrible calls!!!

What disturbs me about this is that people have starting talking about FIFA being a corrupt organization bent on making money, more than caring about the sport. They are going as far as saying that for this game, the referee was specifically appointed to "fix" the match so that the winning side would actually run out of its good players through suspension, when they are going to face England. We know that the English have been quite average at this WC, and Portugal have been in top form this time. So, by weakening the Portuguese side, they are helping England progress in this WC!!! And we all know how important England & Germany are for FIFA, solely for economic reasons...

The referee was quite clearly stark raving bonkers! Needs to be banned. Ruined the Holland v Portugal match and has also ruined Portugal's chances in their next match.
Both Holland and Portugal would have been clear favorites against England but thanks to the ref's terrible decisions and 'card happy' conduct Portugal are now at a major disadvantage.

It was bad. He really lost control when after a portugal player, i think figo, was shoved down from behind while the ball was dead, and the offending player only got a yellow, and when a dutch player grabbed and jerked Deco, and didnt get any card, that was awful. at least he didnt give up any unjustified penalties

i would rate him fair.those red cards was due to the highly intense pressure of the game.
holland was unlucky not to get goals!so sad... :(

i saw it, i hated it. the ref was dumb, i agree. he ruined the game.
i'll miss my oranje. they didnt deserve the loss.
