i hope i dont sound shallow?

ok, i dont want to sound like a brat or anything but when im at school, i feel kinda poor. i mean everyone's closet if stocked full of ae and a&f clothes and all the girls have louies. some people have razrs and sidekicks. my mom doesn't usually let me buy this stuff bcuz she said "it cost too much" how can i feel good about my walmart clothes?

You have to remember that most of the clothes that everyone wears come from the same place. And most of these places are sweatshops in some foreign country. It doesnt matter if they have brand name things because you will grow up appreciating things more. Thoes girls more then likely take everything for granted and have everything handed to them, you will be fortunate enough to have a differnt perspective on things and you will also work harder for things. So i wouldnt worry about the what clothes you don't have...just be happy that you have clothes...some people aren't even that lucky

Well question, does your mom give you an allowance. If not ask her if she would mind paying you for doing extra chores around the house. Tell her why you want to. Tell her that you know she doesn't want to buy clothes from department stores because they are too expensive, but you would be willing to earn the money so that you can buy them yourself. Start saving, and when you go shopping look on the sales racks. Alot of times you can find great deals and get twice the stuff. And the best part is that you still have the designer name on your clothes. I was the same way when I was in high school. It took me years to learn that designer labels are just that, labels. Of corse now I'm the one doing the buying so that proably makes the difference. I realized that my money would be better spent on something the whole family could get use out of. I just wished that I would have realized that when I was younger. Some kids can be real snobs about clothes and shoes and stuff like that, but in the end I say if you like what you are wearing it doesn't matter where it came from. And I can guarantee that those same kids that wear expensive clothes shop at walmart too.

I was like that too. I grew up in a snobby town because my mom wanted me to go to the best schools around. I worked since I was 14 to help pay bills....I bought my own clothes and everything since then. Now that I'm 19....I look at all those stuck-up girls and just laugh. Yeah they have nice things that their daddys bought them, but here I am now with Coach purses because I worked hard for them. I've started my own business and all those kids still rely on their parents to give them everything they want until they are 23. Then when their parents cut off the money supply they start wearing Walmart.Those kids never learn the value of a dollar and how to work for it. You should thank your mom for not buying you those things. Be proud of what you have right now, and later when you are older you will be wearing hotter clothes than all of them. It's a very superfical world, but ultimately clothes don't make you cooler....it's who you are inside. Remember: always work hard for everything you own....you will feel better about what you do have.

I grew up the same way your doing now. If people are going to like you, there gonna like no matter what your wearing. I know Walmart V's Louies is kind of sucky but hey, they've got lots to choose from and they might even be nicer then some of that band name crap...... Just wait till you get my age, those kids will be wearing the wallmart stuff and you'll be wearing the brand names. Or maybe you'll be too cheap like me and you'll want nice funiture instead or have a child of your own and he'll be the kid that everyone else in school wishes that they could dress like.... lol

i feel for you girl, i am the smae way. its kinda good to know i wasnt the only one wearing wal mart clothing. heres the deal on looking like you are a smart savvy shopper, the trick is when buying at walmart to but smaller sizes. im sorry if your a lil bit chubby then this wont work for you (i was chubby). smaller shirts look like they came from a brand place. if you ever happen to go to the mall with your mom go take a look around AE or A&F and see whats in style. go on to forever 21,marshals,target,ross,tj max, or walmart to get the same style. and if someone asks you "where did you get that rad oufit? dont say "oh, from target " " or walmart" say it with feeling " omg! i bought 5 different outfits form ross for 40$!!!! its amazing i mean if i went to A&F i would have gotten 2 shirts!" he proud of what you wear and poeple will see you have great taste. always look for the latest fashions and sales. its what will make you GREAT.


tip: if you see a cute Hoodie at hollister or AE make sure if looks really good on u before u buy it. it will convince your mom to buy it. never buy anthing somthing jsut because other poeple are wearing it or of the brand. and never let "brand bring you down"

who cares what you wear, just be yourself. If girls and guys can only get around in certian types of clothes, they are the ones who need other people. As they have nothing else to offer. Your mum knows best. When you start to work and have to pay for your own clothing, then go out and buy some brand name clothes, but util then, just look good in what you have. Its the person in the clothes that counts, not whats on the person.

It's normal to feel out of it when the others are all showing off their stuff. This may sound silly to you but if you live in an area where there are lots of wealthy people, consider checking out local thrift stores. You might be amazed what you can pick up for cheap that is still great looking. At least give it a try.

Of course you want to feel like you fit in, but don't forget that being who you are, is more important. Don't be afraid to be original!

It's all in the pairing. when you shop at walmart, k mart, or target, take pictures of the fashions you are intrested in with you. Using it as a base build a simular look. It can be done, you'll just have to do a little research before that next shopping trip.

It's a matter of feeling good about yourself. I grew up the same way. My parents couldn't afford to keep me in the latest fashion. Most of my clothes came from thrift and discount stores. I won't lie, I hated it too. Now, when I look back, I'm kind of glad. I see girls my age now that had all that stuff and they are still bound by that. These girls relied on their designer stuff to define them and never developed much self confidence or personality for that matter. You are fine with your walmart clothes - and better off. I promise.

Dear, if anyone is making fun of you for your clothes, they're obviously not people you'd want to hang out with anyways. Wearing clothes that cost less doesn't mean that you're a lesser person, and by the same token, wearing expensive clothes doesn't make you a good person. There are many, many more important things than clothes.
