Most neighborhood watchs' are a joke. Its nothing but a group of bored neighbors watching all week the drama in the neighborhood and gossipping about it over tea and cookies and s***.

Have you ever heard of the "Stop Snitching Campaign" well that's in full effect right now. Retaliation is a b**** in these streets. Some thug find out you dimed him/her out to the police, you may find your house burning to the ground.

On my block we rarely have "incidents" merely because if you are not familiar to us or you look lost we won't call the police, we'll run you off the block our d*** selves. We have elderly, disabled people and small children living on our block and it just became second nature to protect these people.

It helps though if the neighbors are really close too, we are all like a family and you know what happens when people try to bring drama to your family...

None of us are violent and non of our confrontations with the "thugs" that come around from time to time became violent.

I think its obvious to them that we will do whatever it takes to maintain the peace on our block and also the fact that a group of women have a guts to approach a strange car and ask what the h*** are you doing over here creates an element of fear for them because if we will walk up on your car in the middle of the night, what else will we do?

That deters the bulls*** on my block, but every neighborhood is not the same.

If there weren't crime prevention and neighborhood watches etc., there would be even more crime. At any rate, I think there is so much crime because no one is raising the children. They turn to gangs and drugs. Cheating is also condoned now by society and sometimes even by parents if it will help their kid go to better schools. Most women are in the work force now, so no one is
home teaching the kids to be decent humans so no wonder people can justify committing crimes. We also live in a society where we blame everyone else for everything, so some people justify stealing because it is owed to them or because they thinik that they deserve it.
Thankfully though, there will always be some people who do work on bringing up their kids with character!

I do not wish to offend anyone but I am coming from a side where a parent was murdered. My father in law was mowing his own grass when a 15 yr. old shot him with a 22 cal. rife. In 9 days he died. We saw him fight for his life only for it to slip away one night. It has not been a year yet of the anniversary of his death. The system is only up to deciding if he should be tried as adult for this homicide. He admitted to all of it and now this family waits for something to be done. I wonder why neighborhood watch did not see that or why they have kept silent. I do not say anything against neighborhood watch, I just wonder where they were.or anyone else was at that time.

Regardless of the crime prevention and neighborhood watch etc. The world is still full of hateful hearted people this organization but a huge dent in the problem but they can't solve crime all together but they do make a huge difference

To sum this up in simple words, I will just say this.....Regardless if there are neighborhood watches etc....There is actually no way to literally prevent all types of forms of crimes....Even if the neighborhood watches decided to sit on curbs and follow people around, etc it would still be impossible.....

Because we don't get to know our neighbors any more.
Not only do we not see a breakin next door, we don't even know who to call in our neighborhood to report it.

People need to get back to basics, even if it means turning the Computer or TV off and going outside!!

Give them guns and crime would go WAY down. If I could just shoot thugs I see painting walls and thugs I see rollin' looking for trouble, my neighborhood would be CRIME FREE.

They are either afraid of retaliation from the criminals or hate the cops because they or their family have had run-ins with the law.
