I'm 17 weeks pregnant, and for the last week or two have been experiencing sharp pains in my breasts. I have also noticed that they are starting to produce colostrum. Is the pain normal? Is there anything I can do to minimise it?

well I think those answers are rude, but I have three children and it was normal for me. Your breast are producing milk/ colostrum so yea they will have sharp pains and also they are growing. The expansion is what's causing the pains but it should be minor and not severe. When you sleep try to stay off of them and sleep with a bra on at all times. try putting a cool towel on them and keep the moisturized. If your pains are severe you need to be seen by a physician but still contact him/her to be safe.

I had the same thing sore, painful breasts and sharp pains. My pregnancy book said it was normal. I also had tons of colostrum, I had to wear breast pads though out my pregnancy. It is especially bad when you sleep, you wake up just soaking. It's a good sign if you plan of breast feeding, means you have no problem producing milk for baby. They is nothing you can do to stop it, and you wouldn't want to. I know it sucks! But you should get "what to expect when your expecting" It was like a Bible to me during pregnancy. Once again Good Luck.
