Personally, I think it's extremely mature to not have one. Assuming you are feeling not ready, it should only be obtained when one is responsible enough to take on this huge responsibility. There are waaaay too many drivers that should not have a driver's license. There are waaaay too many kids getting them too early - when they are not responsible/respectful enough. It's totally not lame.

I've only had my license for a year. I got it about 2 weeks after I turned 21. I don't think either of us is lame for that. I'm lame because of everything else, but not for only having my license for a year.

Not really. If it doesn't affect your mobility, I don't think its a problem.
I got mine young, and was able to drive Mom's car for a few years, but then went out on my own and couldn't afford a car for quite a while. Really didn't need the DL at that point.
Then, when I lived in Japan for a few years, the transit is so good, I REALLY didn't need one.
Its a convenient ID though.

No, I have a friend who is in her 30's and does not have her license. She figures she can't afford a car, so why get a license.

I didn't get one until I was 24 because I didn't have my own car. I was married at 20 and my husband's car was a stickshift. I only drive manual. There are lots of reasons possible, and there's no reason for anyone to judge you for it.

I know a woman who is like over 50, and has lived in NYC all her life, so she never needed to learn how to drive..so she never did!
I think it's fine.
I am thirteen, so naturally I can't wait till I can drive.

I'm 20 and don't have mine, and yeah, it is a little lame, but it's kinda scary to drive, I don't think I'm ready for it yet.

why would it be lame, you get it when your ready and don't let anyone pressure into it. My daughter was 21 when she got her licence and her sister was 17. Its what you want to do, not what others want you to do. You will get it when your ready.

It depends on where you live. If it's in a city with good mass transit (NYC, SF), then it's fine.
Otherwise, it's lame.
