I have a HP Pavilion Silimline s7500e PC. It is installed with Windows XP Media Center. To utilize my old DocuPrint P8, which requires a parrallel port connection, I bought a USB to Parrallel cable. However, although the PC recongnized the printer, nothing comes out of it. I installed the driver downloaded from Xerox website. It worked before with my other PCs (Windows 2000, and Windows XP), as long as they have a parrallel port.

Did anybody get this USB to Parralel worked with DocuPrint P8? Or I really need a PCI card for it?

In the dialog box of the printer's properties, I tried to click on 'Ports' and in the list of 'Print to the following port(s)', I selected LPT1. Then I click on 'Apply' and tried to print a test page. It shows some errors.

Is this what you meant for 'capturing the usb devices as LPT1'?

Have you tried capturing the USB device as LPT1: ?
I don't know if that will help, but give it a try.
