I don't like to answer this question in a simple way. It depends on your age, sex and muscle mass. I'm 5'7" and 210 pounds. My body mass index is 33 which is considered obese. If you saw me, you would obviously see that I'm not even fat. I've got almost all muscle. Of coarse I do have a tiny bit of beer gut, very tiny. But my calves are at about 20" in circumference and are absolutely 0 fat. I would say if you were average on the muscle side, you should probably weigh between 170 and 185. But like I said, it all depends on how much muscle you have. The best thing to do is not to concentrate on weight, but on your percent of fat. A physician can teach you how to calculate this by measuring the thickness of a roll around your stomach.

If you want to find your body mass index (BMI), which is a pretty good indicator of whether you are underweight, overweight, or the correct weight, take your weight in pounds and divide it by (your height in inches) squared; then multiply that number by 703 and this is your BMI.

[Weight / (Height x height) ] x 703 = BMI

For kilograms and meters, you can take your weight in kg and divide it by your (height in meters) squared and this is your BMI.

Weight / (Height x Height) = BMI

If your BMI is < 18.5, you are underweight; if it is 18.5 - 24.9, you are at an ideal weight; if it is 25 - 29.9, you are overweight; and if it is 30 or greater, you are obese.

it depends on your body structure and if your male or female for a female 165 is they guideline for 5'8 and male is probably around 185 (rough estimate) but i think that the right weight for anyone is the weight they r comfortable with and whatever makes you feel good about who you are.
