My car got stolen and Im lookin for a cheap motorcycle to fill the gap for my last two years of school. I was wondering what would be a good bike to look into. Which one has cheap parts, and even used are known for being "turn key" meaning I dont have to do anything but turn the key and ride. I suppose i'll have this a while so id kinda like it to be respectable. under 2000? Id like to stay around 1000 but.. any suggestions on bikes? ratings? consumer feedback?

Japanese bikes are dependable. Kawasaki Ninja EX 250 is the cheapest choice for in-city riding but do not drive that on the freeway.
Buy used as that would save you money. If you want to ride on the freeway invest in a 500cc and definitely a helmet and gloves: life is more important than money or education.

Enjoy.

I doubt you ll find a used motorcycle for 2000 or under, but look in your local news paper classified ads under used motorcycles for sale, you may get lucky, or try the motorcycle shops to see what they have in used motorcycles. any of those japan made bikes are dependable and a lot less costly than a Harley Davidson although a Harley is a better bike there just expensive

I agree with ANGUS. The Yamaha 650 was made from 1970 to 1984 and literally hundreds of thousands sold = lots of parts. It is dependable, easy to work on, and there are plenty of online resources available when fixing or customizing.
