he just has the thing he ate in there at an odd angle. Put a heated lamp or something and rocks-it will help him digest it.After he poops it out he'll look normal.

An 18 inch Ball Python is considered a neonate (baby snake). A triangular shape does sound like he's on the thin side. Other things you can check for are a visible rib cage or if there is loose skin. If that's the case, he might also be dehydrated. Feed him one small mouse or rat pup once a week. You can also try soaking him for a couple hours, but then all that is needed is a small water bowl. Don't worry about the type of water. If you can drink the tap water in your area, then it will be fine for your snake.

It definitely sounds like he is suffering from lack of nutrition. Make sure you feed him weekly, and at 18" probably two mice each meal should suffice. Make sure he is also getting enough water..snakes drink too!! And use filtered or distilled water, straight tap water is bad for animals!! A large enough dish to get in is requited as well...and don't forget the heat! Undertank heaters are lovely..never use a heatrock for a snake..or any animal truthfully. After some time of keeping up with the feeding and doing the proper care, your snake should fill out quite nicely. I have a 3½ft ball python who is quite gorgeous. Like someone said, though, they do not appear round as a hose, but a triangle does mean trouble! Seek a vet out if things turn for the worse. Good luck!

Without seeing your snake I would remind you that a snake's body is not round like a filled garden hose. The creature has a spine and that ridge is going to put a slightly triangular shaping to the body.

If you are really concerned take your pet to the vet right away. If it is sick it could die quickly without treatment.

Triangle shape does not sound normal. It sounds like he needs more food more often and to gain some weight. There should be a slight impression - not perfectly round..but definitely not triangle shaped.
