I worked for DOD In 1973 it was a Teletype net, there was no way our typewriter hammer system could keep up on a telephone line what was being sent to us. Something was going on.
In 1976 we went to 3 IBM 360 slaved together, Improvements by AT&T gave more capability than the teletype messaging; followed by upgrade software by IBM where one could send greetings to the other stations,
In 1982 Armature Teletype operator went to CPU controllers.
In 1984 you could buy the boxes, PeP, Commodore, IBM juniors.
In 1986 we still had the Minis, networked and time-shared.
Late 1987,1988 everone wanted to buy the PC.

Used DARPA in late 1992 through Archie and Gofer, until about 1994 when http://www.webcrawler.com the first search engine started, yahoo was still a company selling packet checks to applications to embed in programs that people connected to DARPA/Internet to look for people using multiple copies of licensed software.

I first used it in 1999 when my school got Internet access. It wasn't until 2000 though when I started to become more familiar with it.

I was online in 1993, Prodigy; and then TSN/INN (ah, those were the days).. but I didn't actually start surfing the web til about 1996. And I do remember the BBS ;)

1995. I remember there was like only 3 internet providers back then. AOL, CompuServe and Prodigy. I think. I still have one of my orginal hotmail accounts - it gets so much junk email now!
