You should get the poodle. Parrots are very noisy and messy. They need a lot of attention. Imagine a two year old that can bite hard enough to draw blood. On the other hand, dog's want to please you and are relatively easy to train. Poodles in particular are quite smart and eager to please.

I have had a parrot for 8 years and a poodle for 6 years.

Good luck.

Parrots = scream for attention when you are trying to do homework, require filling their food containers with fruit, sunflower seeds and "treats". They poop on the wires of the cage often, so you have to have 2 cages. One that you can clean while its in the other. (2xs the expense). They also require their feet to be oiled, nails clipped, wings clipped. Oh and if they don't like you, it hurts really bad when they bite. They also have mites, that you have to buy a certain type of spray and spray them 1 time a week. The only positive thing I can say is you can train them to talk, but that takes years. And the cd's are so boring, you fall asleep!

Poodles on the other hand come in all sizes, from tiny tea-cups to Giants. They are a non-shedding dog. Allergy free!! They are smart as a tack. Easy to potty train, like to lay at your feet and play, sleep and sit. Poddles are good with kids, friends and scare away unwanted visitors. They're fluffy and mild mannered usually. (If you are single they get really attached to their people and can sometimes be jealous of a new bf or gf!)
When I was little I had one named Pepe. He weight 2.3/4 pounds. He was fast!! He was Grey and I can't wait to get another! With poodles be careful! White ones have weepy eyes that stain their fur orange around the lower lids. It washes out, but not very well. Our best choice in colors are: Parti (black n white), Black, Grey and Chocolate.

Hope this helps! Good luck.

I personally wouldn't get either. Both of them make a lot of racket of noise. If I had to choice between the two I would get a parrot. At least the parrot would stay in the cage. Do you live in an apartment so that you can only have a small pet? There are other kinds of small pets.

A poodle!! They're so CUTE! I luv their big floppy ears:)

Parrots are cool too, but they're not as safe. (in my opinion anyway) My baby cousin has a parrot, and it almost bit his finger off!

If you have your heart set on a parrot, you could try a parakeet. They're very similar, only the beak is smaller in proportion and they don't talk. They're the cutest ever!!

Hope this helps!

Personally, I would get a poodle, because birds are EXTREMELY high maintenance. Especially large tropical ones. They scream and whine and pull out their feathers when they are upset or stressed.
And, they bite. Hard.

To sum it up, dogs are easier to care for and better friends.

Do not get a parrot.
I have one and it is wayy too much work. They are extremely loud, extremely messy, require alot of attention and can live up to 80 years.
