I must fit in the stupid catagory, or it could have something to do with the fact that I have an older computer that doesn't have the spell check .
I was told how to upgrade my computer, but being told and actually being able to do it are two different things.
I have asked 4 computer related questions CLEARLY stating
I was computer challanged and some of the answers I got.........for the amount I understood them, the answer could have been in a foreign language.
Come to think of it, I think they were.

Not to be rude, but it is a bit mean to just assume all should be so well versed in reading, writing and especially spelling, english. This forum in utilized by many from around the world with english is a second language. So, if some do not know how to exactly form proper sentence structuring or spelling.

Now, the spellcheck does not work all the time, especially with longer answers, like I am most typically writing. This will be shorter so I will be (hopefully ;-) ) able to utilize this feature. On the long answers the spell check always comes up with "oops! Sorry but the spellcheck in on the blink again, please try again later" or some such language. I would like it very much if it worked on the longer answers especially as I am one of those hopelessly horrid spellers. I do not mind having a handicapp wihen it comes to spelling correctly. I use to as I often wondered how I could have a high IQ yet be a terriable speller. My sister is a teacher and she explained that the ability to spell well or not has nothing to do wiith the level of intelligence but rather how the brian works and one either spells well or one does not. This reassured me greatly as my sister is not one to mince words just to save a person's sensibilities. I know I can take her at her word, unlike many we encounter in our daily lives.

Now, we do have a few who just like to jot off a quick answer for the quick two points it generates. They often use some type of "shorthand" which leaves out all the vowels or some such thing. I am not sure how it works and I am even less sure if this so called shorthand is across the board as so many seem to make up much of it as they go along. It would make reading a bit eaiser if all were able to write english as well as you do, however we do not yet live in a perfect world so we get what we do and work with it best we can or go elsewhere to a english lit department board perhaps. LOL That is shorthand for lots of laughs. Just to let you know in case you didn't. Know, that is. It is a well used one so you probably already knew.

We do have many youngsters who come and participate here too. I really do not mind the way people write there questions or answers. I like the questions and answers themselves for what content they contain, rather than how well they put the thoughts together. I know this is just my opinion and others are as bothered as you about this issue, as this is not the first question I have answered about it. One individual said there should be a section for "serious" questions and another for ones which were not serious. I asked her who would decide what were serious and which ones were not. That is difficult to decide when most are serious, just perhaps not as well written or have as strong a capabillity to convey in good english what thought is being put out here for us to respond to. I find more thought provoking questions by these so called illiterates you refer to than by many of the well written ones. I enjoy seeing things from the viewpoint of one from a different culture. Like the young girls who are all taken aback by how many U.S girls are so liberal with sex outside of marriage. Many are appalled to read how "lose" girls in teh U.S are. It warms my heart to know there are still many young ladies who wait until marriage for sex. I like those types of morals. But this is my preferance, my own opinion, as this is yours, reagarding the offensiveness in not using "proper" english. I would hope more would understand many in the world have langauges which not english and allow for others attempting to use a second language. This is great practice for those who are trying to hone second language skills and also to have a peak into a different culture.

Lets all attempt to be a bit more accomadating to all who participate and not quite so condemning of others. I am happy you have such a great and strong grasp of the english language. I applaud your skills. I am not being snide or rude. I mean it. I always enjoy witnessing others skills. I just would also enjoy seeing more acceptance of others differences and just plain decency towards others regardless of the reasons somebody may be struggling with writing in "proper" english. We are a community here and it is intended to be fun, not a place to attack and put down others. Blessed Be.
