We were walking somewhere and I got in a verbal spat with two people being rude to me. He laughed and told me it was "classic" that I confronted them (making it sound like I lost my "I don't take crap from people mentality"......But then when I ask, he says I was a little bit of out line, but they were more. Then he said he got the feeling they were jerks even before I said anything and was glad I did. Any clues why he's laughing then getting serious, then contradicting himself over such actions and wanting to tell our other friends about it?

Haven't we all been there? You do something, a friend takes you to task for it. Your first reaction is to defend yourself. After you have a bit of tiime to think about you realize you were off base. After a little more time to to consider it in depth, you realize you were way out of line. Normal part of human nature.

maybe he is saying that it was kinda funny, "classic". But that maybe you also went a little over bard. It is possible that you did both. I have done that before. Once I totally told someone off and my friends were all like "oh, that was so bad ***!" but at the same time, they were like "maybe you were a little harsh on them". Don't worry too much about what they think. The important thing is that you handled your self and didn't let someone walk on you.

you both lack social skills.

This will improve as you grow older... and hopefully wiser.
