I live in Wisconsin and am thinking of moving to Florida, but I've never been there. I've always wanted to see the ocean and I've heard it's beautiful there, and there's a lower cost of living. I don't exactly have the extra money to go on a vacation to Florida, so how would I go about moving there? Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, Florida is beautiful; however, I absolutely hated the humidity there. Seemed like it was every day.

If you're serious about moving there, then you probably need to check it out first. I know you don't want to hear that, but it wouldn't be very smart to pack up and not know where you are going. Just me talking there.

Good luck on whatever you decide.

Check the place out first. There's different 'flavors' of life for the different cities. For instance, Miami has a high Cubano population and is ethnically different than, say, Orlando, which is always filled with tourists due to Disneyworld, Epcot, Sea World and a ton of other attractions, Gainesville is a university town, and like everywhere else, small towns are small towns.
I lived there and did not find the cost of living so cheap. Although there is no state income tax, housing is expensive - rental or otherwise. And then there's the hurricanes.
You really should 'try before you buy' in this instance.

You can check out the site movingtoflorida.com and find out just about anything you want to know. I've lived in Florida and some places are very different from others. Find out about the weather, jobs, the crime rates, and the cost of housing befor you make your final decision. In Florida, you either hate it or you love it; it depends entirely on the person. Florida is very crowded and the cost of living is not cheap. I hope this helps.

Why would you want to move there if you've never been there before??? You might move and find out you hated it! Even going there for a week, doesn't tell you the whole story. I took a job in California for about 1 year and I was glad when I returned to Ohio. Stay put until you know more about the area you want to move to. Maybe find a job in Florida that would pay for your move.
I've been to Florida on vacation, but it gets rather warm/hot there. You might find it uncomfortable.
Good luck!
