A ton of diapers! But the most used item I got from my baby shower is the crib, a bunch of girls from work pooled their money together and got it for me.
Another cute idea I saw at a friend's shower was to have someone else keep track of the gifts and the givers, and present her with the list and a set of thank you cards.

The most useful items i received and can't live w/o were the Boppy pillow, receiving blankets (you can never have too many) and nightgowns from 0-3, and 3-6 month sizes. Pampers and wipes are great too, you go through soo many and having lots on hand keep mom from needing to run out to the store and keeps her from spending the extra money while staying home with baby the first few weeks. Enjoy! Babies are such a sweet blessing.

The most useful things I got were a bouncy seat, a Boppy, and lots of receiving blankets. Diapers are also nice since it's nice to try a variety of brands on a new baby to see what works best.
One thing I wish I'd gotten when my older daughter was born is a sling. She hated the Snugli, but was happy to ride in the sling that I bought when she was just over a year old. I used it quite a bit with my second daughter and just wish I'd had it the first time around.

I'm not a new mom but I am a new grandmother. He's only 2 months! The best gift he got was larger size diapers (package size 2-3). Also a bottle warmer and a back pack diaper bag (keeps mom's hands free for other things).

Burp clothes, hooded bath towels. I thought I had everything I needed when I was 7 months pregnant. But, I only had three of each, and I was so happy to have received the extras at my showers.

I really loved all the home-made blankets and hats. But my favorite gift was a scrap-book and a poem! But diapers, blankies, wipes, outfits-- are a never fail gift!
