Liberal, democrat, republican, left-wing, right-wing, what does it all mean? Powers that be, powers of Attorney General, etc. What I'm looking for is a crash course in American Politics. Could anyone point me into the knowledgeable direction?

The best thing you could do for yourself is to read and become knowledgeable of the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

If you do that, you'll develop a sense of that's right and what's wrong when it comes to politics.

Here's the Bill of Rights. Look at it as a contract. It was written to protect the citizens from the government.

Next up: The Constitution

I, too, would suggest wikipedia. Just do some searching and it'll be more than easy to get up to par. Don't look at any site that has an ounce of political bias in it, because you won't get the full story. Another easy way to learn about politics is American History. The development of the parties, the several two-party systems, Presidential policies, etc. Your common textbook will cover much of it.

stay away from places like moveon.org, they are criminally left.

left, democrat, liberals, are socialists.

rightwing, conservative, neocon (new conservative) are good old fashion Americans.

Fox news is good, if you are reluctant, read these two articles. One is by fox news, the other is a liberal paper. Fox News gives you the whole story, even the part about the weapons being old. The other side dismisses the find like a gallon of spoiled milk, forgiving saddam for not destroying the weapons. They do this because they want to undermine the President (who is republican). Then decide on who you think you can trust.

http://www.gop.com/ That will set you on the right path. Also watch only the news on Fox, the others are VERY biased.
Also here are some definitions that should help:
Liberal- anti-American, bleeding heart, pro high taxes, pro high gas prices.
Democrat- Same as liberal, also the name of the liberal party minority party.
Conservative- Pro-America, brave, willing to fight for freedom, anti-taxes, anti-high gas prices.
Republican-Same as conservative, conservative party, majority party, currently leading party. Also known as the GOP, or Grand Old Party.
Left wing- Used to describe liberal politics, also used to describe communism.
Right wing- Used to desribe consevative politics, also used to desribe capitalism, the type of economy in America.
Attorney General- Cabinet member, head of Department of Justice, laywer for the government.
There you go.

dont let ANYONE tell you what politics should be like(referring to the guy above). Find out your own politics, and keep your best interests at heart.
