It was designed by someone else and I now want to add things to it (just text). I tried to download Flash but it did not work. What do I do? How do I proceed? A link to download Flash that would actually download it?
Thanks!

Before you can edit your Flash page, you'll need to get the original file it was authored with. The type of Flash file you see on the Internet is a .swf file. It's the compiled version (i.e. ready to be seen on the Internet version) of a .fla file.

You'll need to contact the original author of the .fla file to do the editing.

If you can't contact the original creator of the .fla file, you may be able to CREATE a .fla file by using an decompiler program. What that basically does is take the .swf file and attempt to recreate a .fla file. The process is never perfect unfortunately, but sometimes I've had to resort to doing it.

Try Gordon for the Mac, or SWF Decompiler for the PC and see what you get. Depending on how the original file was created, your results will vary.

Once you have your .fla, you can change the text all you want. One thing you need to be aware of though, is that you may also be missing the fonts that the original author used in the creation of the .fla.

Also, one last note, to open the .fla file, you will need the Adobe Flash program, not the Flash Player.

You will have contact your webmaster (the person who maintains and designs the website) and ask for a address where you can download the Flash file. The reason you cannot do anything is because you need the actual file from the server. The webmaster will give you an address to download the file and then you can open it in Flash. At this point you can edit it and maintain it yourself. Once you are done you then upload it onto the server at where your website is based.

To get the administration password for your website you need to contact the webmaster. After you have edited your Flash front page then you can upload it onto the server.

You will need to register, but here is the link that will take you to a download page for a 30-day trial:

See if you can open it in an Adobe program, i.e., InDesign or even Illustrator 10+
