Speed is more dependent on your method of connection. Dial-up is super slow, while DSL and Broadband are the fastest. Other than that, be sure to get antivirus protection, get a computer with enough memory, and defragment your hard drive about as often as you run a virus scan(ideally once a week--at least once a month).

gettin a new comp for surfin the net is silly...a computer wont help u increase ur net speed...yea it does effect if ur comp is very slow...but generally computers which r not too old, hav no probs wid net speed..for the pages to open faster...
1.get faster net
2.use mozilla n not internet explorer
3.block pop ups
4.stay aware of spywares n adwares
5.don run too many programs in the background whch uses up ur net speed
6.do not clear cookies...

Its not the computer, make sure you have DSL, or even better T1 internet connection. Then if wired make sure you get 108 mbps or wireless at least 54 mbps. call a computer person to set it up

Any new computer will work fine, its the internet connection that you have - i.e. a dial up is slower than a cable modem which is slower than a T1
