Is it so hard to do a search online? Seems to me that posting it as a question, waiting for an answer, and possibly having to check to see if it's right would take a lot longer. Looking online yourself could have already found the answer. We shouldn't be doing your homework...

Do a quick search on http://www.wikipedia.org They seem to have something on it, if it's what you're looking for.

you just add the area of each side of the figure. For instance in a pyramid, 4/3 (base*height) + bottomside^2, since the pyramid have 4 triangles and one square (bottom).

^ means exponent or to the power of....
side^2 = side squared

Surface area of a triangle (any triangle): sqrt(x(x-a)(x-b)(x-c)) where x is half the perimeter of the triangle and a,b,c are the sides. The surface area of a pyramid is the sum of the surface areas of its triangles. The volume of a pyramid is 1/3*(b*h) where b is the surface area of the base and h is the pyramid's height.

^ is another way of writing exponents

for ex:

2 squared is the same as saying 2^2
3 cubed is the same as saying 3^3
4 to the power of 5 is the same as saying 4^5
etc...

As for your surface area help, go to http://mathforum.org/dr.math/faq/formulas/

this site has surface areas for all kinds of shapes

If you see T = , thats total surface area.
