Yes , I think most people find being anonymous helpful when answering questions. You can say whatever you want without feeling shame or embarrassment. And for those who like to be hateful, they can get away with that as well.
Personally, I don't care who sees my picture, or what others think about my answers.

I think it is both useful and necessary. The incentive for participation is the points. The foolish, offensive, and just plain stupid answers would not be nearly as abundant if the users did not get rewarded for giving them, and would not ask as many dumb questions if they weren't, in effect, spending their earnings.
Although I have to admit--I wouldn't want to share my yahoo ID if I were to write one of those ridiculous things.

Depends on allot of things are you ashamed of your answers or questions? There is no shame in my game. I think it is useful for folks who are shy or those who want to participate without being public minded. It has good point nd bad ones.Depends on the different circumstances you live with on a day to day bases.

Anonymity is always a good idea.
The ones who stand out are usually the first ones to be cut down.
But the ones in the shadows can usually find a way to survive. In obscurity, perhaps.....but it's still survival.

It's better to keep somewhat anonymous especially considering all the crime in the world today that has something to do with the internet.

I would say it depends on your intentions. I choose to use my real name because I'm not afraid to be myself and offer real help and opinions to others. I stand by everything I say. If someone doesn't like it, they can click a different link.
If you intend to be hurtful to others, then you probably should remain anonymous.
You also have to be careful what you say. There are a lot of whackos out there that have no concept of anything and they are the most dangerous people on Earth.
