I haven't been there yet, but from all the information I've collected Paris, TN seems to be the right choice. The cost of living is moderate, the temperatures are great year around, there is no sales tax, a river runs nearby, and even has a replica of the Eiffel Tower! It's also halfway between Memphis and Nashville. We're taking a trip there this year and if it's what we are expecting to find, will retire to this community.

Memphis has the most cosmopolitan (given that it is Tenn. after all) feel of the major cities plus the most "tourist" attractions and is less than an hour from Tunica if you're into gaming.
Nashville is a growing vibrant city with a strong music history to its claim, though you have to like CW rather than the blues of Memphis.
Knoxville may be the strongest family oriented of the larger cities, while Chattanooga still retains a few small town aspects though its university gives the city somewhat of a large urban flavor.

Well, Nashville of course. I live in Clarksville, Tn, but moved here from Paris, tN, and from there California. I love TN. Memphis is cool, but I like the feel of Nashville, downtown is great too, but you have all the suburbs to choose from and the city is not too big. the guy or gal said Franklin and I know where that is, they are right, kinda snobby, rich area I think. Definitely Nashville, Music City.
