This depends on what the applet was written in. Java? Or an Active X control?
You may need to re-install the java plugin into your browser. http://www.java.sun.com then click any small button that says "click here to get Java".

If you have Windows XP with SP2 (service pack 2) then you will have a little yellow bar at the top of the browser (it is just under the address bar) then click it, install "Active X" or java. Whichever it is asking for.

Shockwave will need shockwave plug-in to run.

If none of this works, check to see if you have a pop-up stopper turned on and is blocking a pop-up window for the game.

You can add any page to the pop-up blocker to be considered a good page through the. "tools" section of IE.

If all else fails, delete all temps & cache of your PC, then try again.
