Growing up, I had problems with voices in my head. I would ask my mother to send me to a therapist, but she and anyone I tried to confide in would only tell me that it was normal and everyone hears voices, but only the crazy people listen to them.
I have since moved away, and I had mentioned their comments to the people I work with, and they thought I was crazy.
I still hear them, but they are quieter and tend to appear only when I'm alone or quiet.
I have attempted to recieve medical help for this, but all I get is "You're depressed. Take this medication."
They never work, and the only thing that has ever helped is reading, watching anime or the show Family Guy.(Anything that puts me into another world.)So, I've kind of developed an addiction to it. They are the only things that make it possible to concentrate.
What I want to know is if it is normal for there to be voices in my head outside of my conscience?
I'm looking for serious answers, not people bashing anime, me, etc

They are not telling me to hurt anyone, and I have tried to seek help. I just want to know if it's normal.

I am seeking help, I am taking medication, and other things. No they aren't talking voices, they are more of a constant buzzing in the back of my mind.
I wasn't asking about my state of health, though thank you to everyone for any concerns. I'm just wanting to know how normal it is. Please, I am well aware and well adjusted to my current situation.
I'm just being curious.

If you really hear voices that your ears can hear, that is not normal.
But if the so called "voices" you hear runs through your mind, then its really normal.
In case you do hear voices in terms of decibels (measurement of volume/sound), then you should go to a therapist or neurologist so you can have your brain scanned for any abnormalities.
Take charge.

Honey, it is NOT normal to hear voices. It IS normal to hear
YOUR OWN voice. Like talking to yourself in your head. If you are hearing voices sweety, you need to go to a medical doctor and ask for a recommendation to a psycologist or psychiatrist, which ever one is licensed to work with prescribing medicines.
This is often caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain. Similar to having something like diabetes - -except yous is an illness in the brain - - hence, a "mental illness" that can be controlled with medications. Some people have heart illness, or stomach illness, or liver illness, so, there is an illness for basically every organ in the body.
Most people take medicine for some haywire problem, so don't fee self conscience. Get yourself some help. Thats why we have doctors. Keep trying different combonations of medications, as recommended by a doctor until the right combination of medicines take your symptoms away.
You will probably have to take them the rest of your life, but so do hundreds of thousands of other people.
No biggie. Just get help.

Do you ask it? Hmmm........
Rope this: My questions:
Dude I think we have the same problem; You seem to hear voices and people don't and think you're crazy. Quite afronting. You are not assimilative of this FCUKING ****! You are HEARING them. They are not in your head. It's a transmitter you are hearing sonic weaponary at infrasonic frequencies. Try looking it up on google and buy the detectors. Then let me know if they work.
Also, be aware that they are PSYCO and you need to be unagressive or they'll hit you with EMPs or TASERSs. What you could do is try going to the cops or to a P.I.
One more thing, it seems to be psycologal too. Try reading a book on psycology and make some adjustments to yourself baased on the book. Like I hated my father and the voices stoped. So well it's really boring so good luck.

I have a problem like that but sometimes they are buzzing mumble humming and often so clear voices I mix them with real people. They talk to me an awful lot tell me what to do and countless other stuff but now to you, I am glad you are getting help and taking medicine what kind? You could be Schziotypal or something . (since you seem depressed too) You should see. I wish you luck and feel free to email me with any further questions. But also I think it is a gift like in Harry Potter maybe it could be a warning.

What are they saying? Do you understand them? Obviously you weren't seeing very "professional" professionals, if they just told you you were depressed, that's not really a symptom of depression. It is a symptom of schizophrenia, but there are almost always other symptoms as well, and it doesn't generally come out in early childhood, so I would't worry about that. I'd go see another therapist and have specific examples, if you can, of what is said to you, if it IS to you. Or whatever it is that's being said. I hope this helps a little...probably not. I'll say this though, I used to, and so did my sister and my neice/ nephew, have imaginary friends and as far as we were concerned, they talked to us, so it's not "crazy" and no matter what the dictionary says, there's no such thing as "normal". I'd love to hear if there's any follow up.....cherilynnc6@yahoo.com Thanks and Good Luck!

It's normal for you!
But: It's better to talk to someone on the web than to talk to yourself all the time.
You need more impute than me-myself and I.
Yes, people do have sub voices talking to them all the time- do this don't do that- what time is it. Does he like/dislike me etc.
You have let yours take to much space-
Use your free will and kick the a@@-wholes out.
You need to tune up your body and eat good- take a yoga class
I not sure I'd tell the general public much about your other friends
You will get pushed away because no one will understand.
Do you have a cat- you need one
Keep on your meds it will help you free will keep n control
You need to write a book if you are not employed.

consult a therapist, it may assist you in your condition. it seems you are holding a lot in and not able to let go. you should express yourself a whole lot, speak your mind. there are some help out there, you need it.
let your family knows how you feel, it will help you to open up and start from there. you need their support and guide so you can cope with it not alone by yourself.
you need to pray, talk to god, that helps too. go to church and ask questions in your mind, he will show you some answers in some kind of way, you will know it when time comes.
regarding anime, they are great, there's nothing wrong with that. so don't feel bad about it.
i hope you find your cure and live a healthy and happy life. good luck on your future..i mean it..

No, it's not normal. Try writing down what you are hearing. You may have a gift and not know it. HOWEVER, I would seek help, a psychiatrist, that does listen to your concerns. I am sure there must be one out there somewhere.

i dont know if you believe in God and i mean God as being the God of the Holy Bible because if that was me i would be praying and i think that you would probably get more help by seeking out a preacher than going to the doctor. i wish you the best. God Bless you.
