For instance, in the same paragraph I paraphrased from a source, but also used a direct quote from the same source so I wouldn't lose the technical accuracy. The paraphrase and the quote are in the same paragraph - actually right next to one another in ajoining sentences. Because the in-text citation would be the same for both, should I use it only once?

As long as it is in the same paragraph, you may cite your reference only once. I thought maybe there were two different times that you used the information in the text. In that case, there would need to be a citation for each.

It's okay to paraphrase and direct quote as but I would use the same citiation for both
