There are several ways to kill the weeds with home remedy's. If the weeds are just here and there in your lawn for example, try getting several boxes of salt. Very inexpensive. Mix a box of salt with about a half gallon of water and apply the saltwater mixture to the base of the weeds and this will kill the weed at the root level. Use caution not to spread the saltwater solution in too broad an area, as this will kill the grass also. Another remedy would by to apply bleach directly to the weed, and also at the base to get to the root system. These remedy's are effective if you only have a few weeds here and there, otherwise, it would take you forever.

If you are working with a lot of weeds in your lawn, your best bet would be to purchase a weed killer which can be applied to lawns, and is designed to kill only the weeds and not your grass.

Good Luck on your project.

Salt!? That will ruin the soil. Use boiled water if you want a envirofriendly way to kill weeds. If you have them in the lawn use an Asparagus cutter for dandelions(You can get these at a hardware store) or use a hand trowl. I really recomend Roundup though. It really is best for almost all weeds except the lawn.

Try vinegar and orange oil. Available at most grocery stores. Make sure the vinegar is 15% concentration, regular kitchen vinegar will not work. The vinegar kills the plant, all the orange oil does is act as a surfactant mainly.

gasoline is too expensive to waste... bleach would ruin the soil and kill any beneficial microorganisms... the best thing would be to hand pick as much as possible while mowing your grass at the right height... the healthier your grass the less weeds...
