Go see a counselor ASAP, and explain to them what you are experiencing. They will probably schedule you to see a Psychiatrist, who will then prescribe an anti-depressant. Both the counselor and the Psychiatrist will follow up with you, becuase it takes awhile for anti-depressants to work, and also, sometime syou have to try several to find what works for you. Ongoing counseling is also recommended, so that perhaps you can uncover and deal with some of the issues causing your pain to begin with.
A medical doctor can also diagnose and prescribe anti-depressants, and you may be able to get in to see one more quickly, but DO go see a counselor as well. The doctor will probably suggest this too.
Don't put it off ... there is a whole life waiting for you, and it may very well be just a temporary step on the way to a more whole and happy you!

First, see a counselor as soon as you can, are you diagnosing yourself? Because, even though you may be right, it's good to have someone to do an adequate assessment first, because it could be something else (not saying worse, but you never know) Then you should be referred to see a psychiatrist, however, be very aware, that depending on your age, some anti-depressants may make you feel more suicidal- there have been semi-recent studies on this, so if you are a pre-teen or teenager, make sure you mention these concerns to your therapist AND psychiatrist. Most of them are aware of these side effects now and won't prescribe certain meds. but you should be as educated as you can be about what you are taking, ok?
I've worked with a lot of adolscents, so if you EVER want a non-judgemental person to vent to, I have no problem with that. But, you really need to start seeing a licensed therapist as soon as you can...I wouldn't just see your primary care dr for meds either, she may be able to give you a referral though.
You should also give yourself a HUGE pat on the back for taking this step. Even if this is it for a while, you did it, you opened up and asked for some advice!!!!!

Severely depressed and you haven't seen an MD or a psychologist? Mental health is every bit as important as physical health. What are you waiting for?
My college Psych professor said that 10% of life is very happy and 10% is very sad, the rest of the time we are somewhere in-between. There is nothing wrong with a little help, even if it comes in the form of a pill. When I went through a divorce, my doctor gave me an Rx that helped take the edge off. When my dad died, he gave me an Rx that I didn't like and wouldn't take.
Find the right MD or the right mental health professional and make sure YOU feel comfortable with your treatment.

I am Catholic. I additionally work within the clinical subject. There are occasions when contributors are identified with serious medical conditions. There are these contributors whose depression has reached a factor where you can not just recover from it or work your method through it and scientific intervention is required. There are abuses in medicating for melancholy as well. There are folks who think you must decide upon between treatment and God. That's not the case. It's flawlessly suited to combine remedy and prayer to help in ones possess medication. There generally is a steadiness between the two. I consider that each are very major to help a man or woman in coping, cure, and dwelling with despair. Each and every individual case is one-of-a-kind of direction. I additionally advise counseling as well. For those who have deep religious beliefs I advocate a councilor who's of your religion. I pray that folks that do suffer from depression are cured and could recognize joy and happiness of their lives.

I would, and have in my life. And I definitely would if I was feeling like you do. Anti-depressives really work. But take it from me, you get 100x more out of it if you also integrate a good cardio workout daily...
