I am a lesbian. I believe all people should have the right to get married regardless of their sexuality. I personally, feel that all marriage is, is a business arrangement in the end. It's just a piece of paper, that many times changes the nature of the relationship, which to me makes it worse. I feel that as long as we get the same rights in a civil union, like a married heterosexual couple, then I'm all for it. I want to be able to be on my death bed with the one I love, rather than be alone just because our government doesn't feel it's morally right. yet they want church and state seperate....hmmm doesn't make any sense to me

I think civil unions are fine if the government ONLY recognizes civil unions/domestic unions.
If the government recognizes a straight marriage, it should recognize a gay marriage.
Either all people are created equal... or we aren't. It is un-American to suggest that any group is less equal than any other group.
PS I'm gay. In a 16 year committed relationship. Wouldn't get married if the government recognized it. Never cared for the idea.

Although I am not lesbian, I believe that everyone should have equal rights, if a guy and girl can get married, lesbians should have the same rights, so yes I favour civil unions!

I am hetero- but have a gay brother and many gay friends. I think that civil unions should be allowed. Look at how hetero couples have screwed things up- I've seen gay couples stick out ups and downs in relationships much longer.
I may not be gay, but I feel every person has the right to do what every other person has the right to. It is unfair by our constitution to discriminate and I will be the last one to do that. If our senators want to, let them break their own laws.......

Straight and married. I can't see why so many people have a problem with civil unions. I'd love for everyone to be as happy as I am with my hubby. Love sees no limits!!!

I'm bisexual and I favor marriage because I feel separating marriage from civil unions gives the impression that same sex couples are inferior to heterosexual couples.

Hetero- civil unions, marriage... who really gives a darn! Everyone should have the right to be as miserable as the rest of us.

I am a lesbian and while I appreciate that states like Vermont want to give queer couples an option to be legally bound, I want the right to be married and not be given a sliver of what heterosexuals get, I want equal rights.

Full on Gay
To me it truthfully doesn't matter (civil unions vs. marriage). But I fear that if "we" only get civil unions it will be considered second to marriage.
