depends on how good they get up in the morning. if can get up no problem, let them stay up later, but if not get up right away and you have to nag nag nag to get them out of bed then they are nasty tempered, put them to bed early. everyone & every age has different sleep requitments. also if they get bad grades need more sleep to keep alert in class

During school i would enforce a 9:30-10 pm bedtime. By the time they stall it will be 10:30 giving them around 8 1/2 hours of sleep for the next day of school. For the weekends and summer, i would extend the bedtime to 11 pm and occasionally midnight for a special event such as going to a sporting event, or a concert, but not for every night. Being tired can cause the attitudes and allowing kids to stay up late and then get up late puts them into a bad sleep cycle which will be hard to break come school time.

Well, according to my 13 year old(who tries to sneak back up and watch tv at 1-2 AM!!) ... as late as they want.

I say around 9:00-9:30 on school nights. And then between 10-11 on weekends. Definitely no later than 11, though.

U should give them a set time between 9:30 and 10pm that way they wont be so cranky or with an attitude because no matter what time u lay them down it takes them about an hour to actually go 2 sleep.

9 in the week (school going on), 10 on the weekends (school going on) 11 in the summer and any attitude will earn a 30 minute earlier bedtime.

I'm thirteen and I don' t have a bedtime. I just have to get myself up in the morning and my parents are cool with it as long as I don't sleep in class or anything else like that. I should have a bedtime, but I don't. I go to sleep at two in the morning at the latest unless I'm really tired.
