I have been friends with a guy for a year. We go out to lunch and hang out all the time. We act and talk like friends, we tell eachother about our lives, and about the other people we date casually, but sometimes it feels like there should be more. I want a relationship with him, but I dont know how to stop treating him like a friend. How do we switch this up?

before you do weigh the options of losing him as a friend if he doesn't feel the same

Tell him you have feelings for him.

I was in the same situation, and I just couldn't take it one day so I told him (however awkward it was, he was my best friend so it was fine) and we've been going out for 9 months now.
I think it's best to be friends with someone before you date them, because how do you know you will get along with them? if you can't be friends with someone, i don't think its possible to have a healthy love relationship.

It should be mutual. See how he looks, feels and think about you and then if ur convinced enough that he feels the same, ask him to be ur bestest friend...aka...boyfriend.
