Barry Manilow. He's so personable. Really. I've been to over 600 concerts in my time, and there have been some exciting shows, like Pink Floyd's laser show in 1988, the Police in 1983, Sonic Youth and Neil Young on tour in 1992, Public Image openning for INXS in 1987, Metallica with Symphony in 1998...
But, Barry Manilow captivated his audience with story after story, and in between the stories he'd sing a song. He was... charming. He isn't a storyteller like Henry Rollins or Exene Crvenka are/were, but for 2 hours it's like listening to a a good friend with a lot of talent.

Cher was absolutely amazing. She came down from a huge chandalier with a 40 pound fur coat singing "Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For." It was so heart-racing and she really gets the audience pumped.
