Yes it is completely normal- some young women may get a first period and not get a second one for a year or more. EVERY woman is different in the beginning of life as well as in the end.Do not worry . However a visit to the gynecologist should be in order now or in the near future. Being an individual is simply a part of being human . Don't worry if your body (or your friends ) doesn't function exactly as another friends body does . Just make sure you take care of yourself with regular check-ups. RELAX and enjoy being a woman-it's a wonderful and wondrous adventure!!

it's DEFINITELY normal. my father is a doctor, and i myself started my period when i was 10. your period will NEVER be regular for about a good 5-6 years for a lot of ppl. some a little more or a little less. i'm 17 years old now, and my period only became regular about 2-3 years ago. don't worry-- your friend is PERFECTLY fine and completely healthy. if she wants though-- she should talk to her parents and make an app. with her doctor.

Yes, she is only 12, her body is not regular yet. She should talk with her mom, or a health teacher at school. She can also see a female doctor who can explain things to her. It will be ok, this is normal. Tough but normal. It will get easier and more regular.

Some times with a young woman it is normal the cycles may not be normal for a little while, though it can be hard to tell what is wrong, as long as she is a virgin she should be alright, but she still might need to go to a doctor.

i had mine for the first time at 12, and then it skipped for three months. i began to wonder if it had started at all!
she's fine. she will even out eventually. 12-18 years old is the time when everything is a bit abnormal, but she will get set in her own schedule at some point. and then it will be like clockwork.

Quite normal. It shows that she is too young to produce eggs periodically. She has to wait.
It may be because of the shortness of supply of eggs. May be because of Bird's Flu! Just kidding!
Dontla worry! f this condition continues after she is 18 & not pregnant consult 'Yahoo Answers'

Sure, it's normal. She's young and everyone is different. She'll get into a routine once she gets a little older and her body gets used to all the hormones. I sincerely hope she isn't pregnant at 12......that's a whole different issue.

Its normal. Most girls will get their 1st period fairly early and then not have another for several mths some times a whole year. Thats what happened to me. I live in MI and I went to Colorado when I was 11 and I started my 1st period while hiking in the mountains. (Not Fun) Anyway when I got back to MI it was 7mths and I had started again so my mom took me to the Dr. and he told me that it was probably due to the high alt. that I started so early. He told me that its rare that girls get their 1st period and then have another one the next mth. It takes time for your body to adjust to your cycle.

Yes, this is normal. Many young girls have irregular periods, especially in the beginning because your body is just developing and you aren't on a steady menstrual cycle yet.
