Yes, that is sad. I have been working at a job I am not happy with while my wife has been attending school. Now she has graduated and is working, so it will be my turn to find something better (hopefully). The only reason I have stayed is because I like this thing I am living in called an apartment, as opposed to the street outside the apartment.

Yes, it is sad, but people think they have no options- it's not true. You just need to see what they are, and see what you need to do to change things. I think most of what keeps people where they are is fear. It's scary for any adult to go back to school, I know, I'm there now, and have friends there as well. To take that leap is HUGE- but there is financial aid...hey, I gave up a $40K a year job to bartend and go back to school full time. And I started going back pt at night while still at the job I hated. Yes, you have to make some sacrifices, but I looked at how much I REALLY needed to make per week to live, and found a job/s to make that money, and when I'm not in school I work more to make up for working pt during the school year. We all live above our means anyway, so we could all stand to cut back a little- I think it would be nice to live in a humbler society. Life's too short to be miserable one day longer. Twice I've taken a paycut to find my passion at work, and I found it...and I believe anyone can. Just one step at a time. I started taking ONE class per semester, and now I've graduated with an Associate's and am almost done with my BSW and I'm going into the MSW program right after I graduate. And, school may not be what you need/want either! Is there something else you are passionate about? A cause or a hobby? You can start a small trial business at little cost to see if it can be profitable. Using home demonstrations with friends and family are a great way to start. And you can do this pt, and there's no pressure, because it's your own thing, not for someone else. So, you pick the timeframe. I could go on and on, but I won't. You can e-mail me if you want to run ideas back and forth sometime. Good luck!!! Cherilynnc6@yahoo.com

I agree. We spend most if not all of our lives earning a living to live. We don't have time to stop and enjoy life's precious moments. To make matters worse, we take work home with us via the cell phone, in home office, and computers. It's better to have your own business. If you have an idea for one, make a few financial sacrifices and go for it. No idea is stupid and no business is too small. Read Rich Dad Poor Dad by: Robert Kiyosaki. That book will give you some perspective on life and work. Reading the Bible also helps me get through life's roughest moments.

Sometimes you really don't have a choice but you do. if that makes sence. If you want a job you like it cost you money for school and to have a job that you don't like well you have to keep it to pay the bills. It also helps if you have a good boss not a bossy boss makes the job even worse plus the fact we have to work till we are 65 years old retirement. whats up with that (work for a living) ain't that the truth no wonder we don't live till we are 100 we work to hard to live.

I work for a global firm which pays very well and also provides the opportunity to work for the latest technology. I should also say I have been a job hopper before I was here(, finally). And the reason for that being not money or right technology, but lack of good leadership(something that I discover now). Its not that I hated my previous jobs but neither did I love them. Now, I enjoy working here. Thanks to the able leadership here that keeps me going.
Moral of the story-For guys who hate their job: There is nothing like "right technology" or "enough money". But leadership matters. So if you wanna be content with your job, all you should be looking for is a good handler/lead/manger and be one yourself so that your subordinates are content with the job too.
