It's sort of a thriller/horror. A bunch of thugs in masks take over a teacher and a bunch of students in a rural setting. The beginning starts with shots of the school and playground, then to the inside showing dead animals inside mason jars and some kind of liquid.

Definitely the Australian film Fortress (not to be mixed up with the Christopher Lambert film of the same name)

Fortress i think i only saw it once and boy did it get me freaked i remember them showing the dead animals too

It was "Fortress" made in 1986. I was so spooked out by that movie. I saw it when it came out on television. Ohmigosh, it would be a great movie to any collection.
