Depends on how open minded you want to be.

Back in the days letters were just about all a soldier could have.
But now with pictures, video, you can really really do a lot to help cope. I know its not all about sexual neither. So heres my list of things to cope when leaving your wife.

1.the military is real good with the interenet now, so make sure everyone has email
2.maybe you and wife set up a webpage or myspace account so you can keep up with whats going on while youre gone
3.take some sexy pics of your wife for those very hard lonely nights away from her

Have fun and good luck.

I won't sugar coat things...I have not been married but was stationed in the Middle East for 4 months with guys who have been there for almost a year, and almost all their marriages were ruined..WHY? Because their wives cheated on them....I hate to break it to you but just keep that in mind, that you won't be around to fulfill her sexually so it is HIGHLY possible she will look for it somewhere else. I have seen this happen a thousand times. I wish the best for you my friend, good luck in Iraq.

That's hard. Number one, thank you for serving our country.

I think that honoring your wife completely while you are away is most important and will help you hold on. When a group of men/women get together, it's easy to start ragging on them...some people in combat do it to minimize the pain they feel being away...if they can belittle their marriage it might make it easier being away.

Hide a few things in your house. Notes, cards, a knick-knack or something. And have her "find" them on special occasions.

i am a marine wife of 13 years and have been thru many deployments including the war on terrorism. webcams work well if the internet isn't down. we wrote letters and sent packages. we did instant messaging but being on the internet at the same time was difficult especially with the time difference. send pictures. we have 3 sons and i would send their school work to my husband so he would feel included on what they were learning in school.

Keep in touch as much as possible...call her when you can...write letters as much as you can...if you have email access, email her as much as you can....have her send you pictures and stuff to keep you up-to-date on things.....

I would like to thank you for being a soldier.....I hope for a fast year for you and a safe return from Iraq.....God Bless You...

Write her everyday or when you get time letting her know how much she's missed and things like that. Take something that belongs to her so you'll always feel near to her!
